What services are offered in this program?
We provide dental and vision services through our fully equipped Mobile Health Clinics. The dental care includes Diagnostic (oral examination, x-rays) Preventative (cleaning, scale, fluoride, fissure sealants) and Restorative treatments (fillings, extractions). These services are provided at our mobile clinic but if there is any complex treatment required, a referral letter can be provided to take your child to a local dentist.
For Vision, we provide comprehensive eye check-ups which includes: Eye Chart test, Internal and external eye examination, Clarity of vision test, Retina testing and Eyes coordination check.
Are there any costs to the parents/students?
The dental service is bulk-billed to Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for the eligible child/family. Under this program, eligible families receive $1000 per child over a two-calendar year period. If eligible for CDBS, the cost of dental treatment will be deducted out of that amount and there will not be any out-of-pocket expenses or gap payment for the parents.
The Optical services are also bulk-billed to Medicare. All eligible Medicare card holders under the age of 65 receives one full comprehensive eye examination every 3 years.
Who is eligible for CDBS?

You can be either the child’s parent / guardian or an approved care organisation.
What if I am not eligible for the Medicare Scheme?
For Dental: if the child is not eligible, we can provide basic check-up at a reduced price of $119 which includes exam, clean and fluoride treatment. It can be claimed back if you have a private health insurance with dental cover.
For Vision: if the child is not eligible, we provide the comprehensive eye test at a reduced price of $75. It can be claimed back if you have a private health insurance with optical cover.

What do parents/students need to do to participate in this program?
We will make arrangements with your school and once a booking is confirmed, the school will distribute consent forms to all students. The parent’s will need to fill in consent form for your child/children and submit to school before we can take your appointment. Please click here to submit consent form online.
What is school’s role in the program?
The school facilities this program by hosting our Mobile Dental Van and or Mobile Vision Clinic at school’s premises and distribution/collection of consent forms from students. There is no cost for school to host our services.
Will the parents get a treatment report?
Yes, we will advise parents of our findings and the treatment provided. Further consent will be asked for complex treatments. The report will be given to the child to pass to their parents.
Do you provide oral health education?
Absolutely, oral hygiene is very important factor in someone’s well-being and during consultation we focus on doing one-on-one oral health talk. We also give everyone take home oral hygiene kit which includes dental tips booklet, tooth brush and tooth paste/ floss.
Do you have consent form in different languages?
Yes, we can supply forms in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Persian and Dari.
Are your clinicians qualified?
The visiting team consists of Dentists, Oral health therapists, Optometrists and support staff. All our practitioners are fully qualified and registered with AHPRA – Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Dental/ Optometry board of Australia. Prior to our visit, we provide complete documentation including certifications, working with children checks, police check and insurance documents.
How long will the mobile dental clinic be at the school?
This depends on the number on the number of returned consent forms we receive. Usually it takes around 1-2 weeks to see up-to 100 students.
What are the dimensions of dental van and where will it be parked?
The dental van is 8-meter in length and 2.5 meter in width. It can be parked at same site as Healthy Harold bus or a site inspection can be arranged to determine suitable location. We will also require access to power and water from the school.
Where do you conduct the eye checks?
The vision testing will done at the client’s premises. We require a small private room (4 x 4m) inside the school building with a desk and few chairs. Access to power is also needed.
Do you visit regional schools?
Yes, we can visit schools in regional NSW. However, we do require a minimum number of 100 students for us to come on-site. We don’t offer vision program outside of Sydney region at this stage.
Can the school staff participate too?
Absolutely, we offer up-to 5 FREE dental checks for staff members. Just fill in the form and mention you are a staff member, it’s that simple!
